Insecurity is No Reason to be an Asshole.

Lately, I’ve encountered several assholeish people….
Whether they’re making blatantly rude and classless comments about politicians, or screwing me or my friends over in relationships, it seems that I encounter more assholes in one week than times that I’ve ever been an asshole in my ENTIRE LIFE.
Let me back up slightly, you should know that I don’t have a bitch bone in my body, no matter how hard I try. I wish I could be a bitch when it was necessary. Truthfully, I think it would make life a hell of a lot easier, standing up for myself and not getting stepped on constantly. People are afraid of bitches, thus, bitches always get what they want.
But like I said, no matter how hard I try, it just never works out. I’m always the nice pushover.

So with my recent plethora of asshole encounters, I’ve decided to delve deeper into what makes people want to behave this way, and the most common reason that I’ve been presented with is that people act like assholes to compensate for some area that they are lacking in. It’s their way of making up for what they fall short in…..
Instead of admitting their insecurities and shortcomings and legitimately working on these to make them a better, more fulfilled person all around, these people seem to think it’s easier to be an asshole. Be mad at someone else, when they’re really mad at themselves.

I don’t know about you guys, but I JUST don’t get this!!!! Nothing about this twisted “reason” for asshole-ism makes sense??? It’s easier to be mean? WAIT, WHAT??????
I bet it will be super easy, once you cross the pearly gates into Heaven and are judged for your actions…..

But the bottom line is, I’m about the most insecure person I know…. I’m 24 and I’ve never had a boyfriend who didn’t cheat on me, I’m overweight, and terrified that I’m going to be alone for the rest of my life. And folks, if THAT’S not insecurity, I don’t know what is….
I’m not an asshole to people! EVER! So, I don’t get it.
I think the insecurity thing is bullshit, I’m just sayin.

I truly think that these assholes that I have to deal with all the time should investigate their inner-workings and face their insecurities and work on them if they so choose….

I DON’T, however, think they should cut me off in the Kroger Parking Lot, break my heart/ or my friends hearts, make rude comments or assumptions about people that they don’t even know, or indulge in any other form of asshole behavior and be allowed to get away with it scott free because they are “insecure”.

So I’ll say it again. “Insecurity is no reason to be an asshole”.

What Your Car Says About You: The Ten Worst Automotive Decorating Disasters

Here it is, the long awaited, offensive car accessories exposed, “Yes, Rednecks I Will Call You Out because there is NEVER an excuse for Tweetie Bird Floormats” blog.
I’ve decided to begin with the least offensive of the car accessories,

10.The Monogram Car Sticker: Now, I’m a self professed monogram fiend and have seen rare cases where the monogram sticker on a car is tasteful and cute but, for the most part, Monograms are for jewelry, bags, towels, etc. Not Suburbans.

9. Baby on BOARD!!! I can understand how it’s natural to want to protect your child from car accidents. Really, I can. But get out of 1982 and get that dumbass sticker off your car. How ‘bout you protect your kids by being a good driver?-- Not having a bright yellow sticker on your rear windshield that distracts other drivers from the road. Seriously?

8. Cardboard Pine Tree Air Fresheners: Honestly?? Who wants to smell the combo of motor oil and Pine sol every day when you hop into your car? I mean, How ‘bout “Fresh Linen”? “Lavender and Vanilla”?? “Apples and Spice”? Get with it people. Bath and Body Works has been making car air fresheners for YEARS. I’m begging you, Upgrade from the cardboard pine tree. It looks offensive and it smells offensive. Obvi, that shit needs to go.

7. Titty Beads on the Rearview: Please stop broadcasting to everyone, via a 10 strands of blinding mini disco balls on your rearview, that you showed your “fun bags” in public and that you’re a whore. We could already tell by your too tight clothes, frosty eyeshadow and Chameleon colored Camaro.

6.Oversized Anything: I’ve heard of overcompensating for lack of “size” with your vehicle, but I didn’t actually know men felt the need for that to carry over into their car adornments. If I see one more Ducks Unlimited or Tapout sticker that covers the entirety of a Z71’s back window I am going to scream. How can you POSSIBLY check your blindspot with that monstrosity on your window? I know you like to Duck Hunt and/or UFC fight, but everyone on the road doesn’t need to be bothered with how small your penis is.

5.His and Hers Window Stickers: Picture a low rider Tacoma, Tinted windows with bubbles in them, two 15 year olds cheifing down Marlboro Reds and Eminem blaring out of a busted ’10. “Bubba” is stuck on the driver’s side window and “Misty” adorns the passenger’s side… (in airbrush font of COURSE). If this weren’t so laughable, I’d have to be really pissed off about how ugly it is. I’m sure Bubba and Misty will be “2gether 4ever” until he knocks her up in two weeks and cheats on her with her cousin Krystal Jean.

4. Anything Furry/Animal Print: Ok, I’ll confess that circa 2002 I was guilty of having a furry, leopard print steering wheel cover and matching sun visor CD case. You caught me. I have since learned that I am NOT a pimp, and that leopard print only belongs on expensive stilettos. This category includes furry seat covers, furry dice, and anything made of crushed velvet. Although, If you’re actually a real, live pimp, I guess this doesn’t apply to you. You have more serious problems than your furry purple seat covers….

3. Stick Figure Family Stickers: WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????? They are ugly, and non artistic, not to mention that nobody gives two SHITS if you have A Mommy, a Daddy, 4 girls, 2 boys, a dog, 3 cats a hamster and a fish in your family. I have recently heard that these heinous displays of redneck-ism have been taken to a new level, by adding an “X” over the Daddy. Let me repeat: NO ONE CARES!!!!!!!! Not to mention, by X-ing out your ex-husband on your ugly car sticker , you have just let everyone on the road know that you are a complete BITCH! …. And you wonder why he left??…. yeah.

2. TVs in Dash Board: This Trend started by Rappers and MTV cribs alike is alive and well here in Atlanta. Not only are these COMPLETELY DANGEROUS, but they are also ridiculous. I have no idea, why, in God’s name, ANYONE would need to be watching a movie, while they’re cruising down the road! Why don’t you watch the ROAD, dumb fuck???!!!

1. Truck Nuts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_nuts
I don’t know much about trucks, but I think this is supposed to be a play on words of some sort?? Is it a trailer hitch?? Frankly, I don’t care too much what it is. Because the truth is…. It’s a BALL SACK on a CAR. This is not funny. It is not cute. It is not even a good gag gift. EVER. I’m so offended I want to vomit. Whoever manufactures these should be arrested for public indecency. Keep you nuts where they belong, in your pants… not on your trailer hitch.

Going Cold Turkey....

They say “what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger” …. Until recently, I was fairly sure that “they” had it wrong and that the actual, correct statement should have been “what doesn’t kill us, makes us wish it did.” My latest foray into quitting cigarettes and facebook cold turkey has made me realize that maybe “they” had it right the first time….

Some recent trials of my strength both in my personal and my professional life gave me the idea to absolutely rid my life of as many negative influences as possible and see if I could survive.- to really get down to the things that were (directly or indirectly) making me sad and eliminate them. One less bell to answer, one less egg to fry kinda thing- but in a good way…

Many of you know that I’ve battled chronic depression since college… It’s the kind of thing that isn’t always an imminent illness, but when it rains, it pours. For about the last 3 months, rest assured, it’s been pouring. That’s just how the illness goes…. It’s also the kind of thing that, until now, I could bottle up and push off with sleep, or humor, or alcohol. I had found the keen ability to bottle it up with drunkenness and jokes and not really let it affect my life until I layed down at night and it was just me and the Big D. I’d cry for thirty minutes, tell myself that it was going to be fine, to suck it up, and take enough melatonin to go to sleep and begin the routine over again the next day. Then, I started to lose it at work. Literally lose it. Make stupid mistakes, stare at the computer screen for ten minutes before I could focus, or even remember what I was doing in the first place. And my work is ENTIRELY too important to me to let illness of any kind ruin the good thing that I have going for me.

So here’s where the elimination of negativity comes in…. What, I thought to myself was causing my sadness? Well isn’t that the 20, 000 dollar question?.... There’s a mess of things that I’m sure contribute to it, but the one thing that I can pinpoint is that I don’t have what other people my age have… mainly a significant other, and a path to creating a happy and fulfilled life. They take four steps forward, pass go and collect a diamond, a spouse, and a happy life.
I take one step forward, four steps back, and desperately crawl one space back up. Any way you cut it, I’m clearly behind the curve….
I was sick and tired of seeing picture perfect weddings and bridal showers and diamonds and kisses and new dogs, new houses, smiles… sick and tired of seeing everything I don’t have paraded in front of me as if people are literally saying “see! Look what an awesome life I have! And you live in an apartment with a roommate and cook spaghettios for yourself at night!! Hahahahaha! Poor thing….”
So, I decided that these picture perfect lives, being brought to me, courtesy of facebook would be the first thing to go in my “Get Rid of Negativity” Transformation. I didn’t need to see other people’s lives and compare mine to theirs. I am what I am, and I have what I have at the only pace at which I can obtain it, MY OWN PACE. And I’ve decided that that is just fine.

I’ve been without facebook for 2 weeks now. I am most definitely a happier person without it. I don’t miss it. And the only hard thing about dropping it, was breaking the habit. Not picking up my phone to check a new notification, not really caring what anyone else is doing, having full confidence that the people who I truly care about and who truly care about me have multiple ways to contact me and won’t ever lose touch because I am not on facebook-- and most importantly focusing on me and measuring myself by my standards, and mine only. Breaking my previous thought patterns....

With the positive response my morale had from quitting facebook cold turkey, I began to wonder, What else could I quit and have a positive response from? Maybe quitting is a good thing…. Maybe if I vowed to quit all the vices in my life, I would find the happiness I’ve been looking for.

Next on the list: Cigarettes and Alcohol. (ok, I can’t quit alcohol, let’s be honest. If loving wine/Burnetts Lime Vodka is wrong I don’t EVER wanna be right.) BUTTTT, It’s day 12, and I still haven’t had a cig!!

I’m going to continue pondering on what else I can quit cold turkey and I challenge you to cut the negativity out of your life and see just how strong you are…

“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot. “
